The Hold

Product guide

How The Hold Works

From first wallet connection to collection progress, Monthly XP, and a wallet-approved swap, here is the full The Hold flow in plain English.

Seven steps from wallet to Dex

  1. 1

    Connect your wallet

Choose a supported Solana wallet. A connection lets The Hold request the limited wallet interactions needed for verification and trading.

  2. 2

    Verify ownership

Sign a readable verification message to prove control of the selected wallet. This is not a transfer or swap transaction.

  3. 3

    Build your collection

The Hold reads supported holdings through server-side blockchain data, marks current qualifying entries Active, and preserves prior verified discoveries.

  4. 4

    Earn XP and achievements

Fee-qualified The Hold acquisitions and lifecycle events earn Monthly XP; collecting milestones award permanent achievements. The systems are separate.

  5. 5

    Choose contest participation

Monthly Contest Participation starts off. Turn it on only if you want an official Monthly XP rank, Top 5 placement, and eligibility for any announced season prize.

  6. 6

    Compete on leaderboards

Monthly XP ranks opted-in participants. Collection Count separately compares eligible public collector profiles by verified Active entries.

  7. 7

    Trade supported assets

Review a supported Solana swap, its route, fee, and expected result, then authorize it in your wallet.

Wallet verification

Prove control without transferring custody

The Hold asks the wallet to sign a purpose-specific message and verifies the signature. A valid signature shows that the connected wallet can authorize messages for that address. It does not grant The Hold possession of the wallet or approve a token transfer.

  • Wallet verification signs a message, not a transaction.
  • Swap authorization is a separate action performed in your wallet.
  • The Hold cannot recover a lost seed phrase or private key.

Collection states

Active is current; Discovered is history

Active

Held at the latest successful server-verified sync. Ownership can satisfy a lifecycle bonus, but it is not proof of an acquisition on The Hold.

Discovered

Previously present in verified collection history but not currently Active. History remains visible without creating Monthly XP.

A catalog listing does not prove ownership, endorse an asset, or guarantee that it can be traded safely or at a particular price.

Progress systems

XP events and permanent achievements

Monthly XP

The Hold sums valid season events created from fee-qualified acquisitions, successful lifecycle challenges, and frozen-roster completion. Price changes do not remove earned XP.

Achievements

Achievements are permanent milestones for collecting and completion. They remain separate from Monthly XP and placement.

Independent choices

Profile visibility is not contest participation

Your profile can be public or private. Separately, Monthly Contest Participation can be on or off. All four combinations are supported.

Contest off

You continue to earn private XP and achievements, but receive no official Monthly XP rank, cannot occupy a Top 5 contest position, and cannot qualify for any announced season prize.

Private + contest on

Your profile stays inaccessible. The leaderboard may show only your username, rank, XP, qualifying activity count, and contest or winner status.

Wallet-approved trading

Review first, sign second

The Hold requests a Jupiter order, verifies its disclosed fee and wallet binding, and presents the details before wallet approval. Your wallet may add its own safety guards before signing; Jupiter then validates and executes the wallet-returned transaction against the original order request. Execution can still vary or fail because of liquidity, price movement, network conditions, token behavior, or infrastructure availability.

The Hold currently charges a 0.50% platform fee on swaps. Blockchain network costs and other transaction requirements may also apply.
